Black Tomato’s Official James Bond Multi-Country Adventure – COOL HUNTING®

It’s a common reaction after watching a James Bond movie to research the locations used in the film. Since the release of Dr. No on October 5, 1962, the titular secret agent found himself struggling in places of startling beauty. Recognizing this, tour operators have designed itineraries around the adventures of 007. But now, for the first time, EON Productions (producers of the hit series) have selected an official travel partner, Black Tomato. To mark the 60th anniversary of James Bond’s cinematic debut, the luxury travel organization has developed The Assignment: Europe, an immersive James Bond-inspired adventure limited to 60 private trips.

Black Tomato worked closely with EON Productions, who opened up their archives and provided their knowledge and expertise, as well as scouts who worked on actual productions. The 12-day trip includes several European destinations, starting in London and passing through Paris, Lake Como, Venice and more. Different modes of transport, from cars to boats and seaplanes, are a guarantee.

“We entered into a partnership with Agatha Christie earlier in the year and EON Productions saw it and contacted us,” Tom Marchant, co-founder and owner of Black Tomato, told COOL HUNTING. “Although they had never done anything like this before, they said they wanted to bring Bond to life in the most meaningful way possible with a travel agency. They did a lot of research and came to see us and asked if we’d be interested in exploring it. Marchant, a longtime fan, was quick to say yes.

A lot of work has gone into the early stages of the collaboration. “The idea was to create an experience,” Marchant continues. “It’s a journey through Europe that immerses you in the world of James Bond, but there’s a real story arc. The Bond we know and love is demanding and elegant with an edge. That’s how we’ve positioned the trip. It’s beautifully done, from the hotels to the food and experiences in between.

Bond movies are thrilling – and Black Tomato has carefully incorporated that into the experience. “There is a beginning, a middle and an end,” says Marchant. “There’s a task for people to complete, which includes gathering information, and it all culminates in a grand finale. There is an element of the unknown, but this is not a 12 day escape room. While James Bond fans will surely be delighted, this trip isn’t just for aficionados; it’s for anyone with a sense of adventure and a sense of beauty.
